Grove ("we", "us", "our") operates the Grove mobile application and the website at grovehabits.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
We believe your data belongs to you. We collect only what we need to make the app work, and we never sell your personal information.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
Habit and Mood Data
We store the habits you create, your completion records, mood ratings (before and after completions), streaks, and achievement progress. This data is essential to how Grove works.
Device Information
We may collect basic device information such as device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and performance optimization.
Analytics
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how users interact with the app. Clarity may collect anonymized usage data including page views, clicks, and scroll behavior. No personally identifiable information is shared with Clarity.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Grove service
- To calculate streaks, growth tiers, achievements, and mood insights
- To send notifications about habit reminders (if you opt in)
- To enable social features like friend activity feeds (if you make your profile public)
- To improve the app based on aggregated, anonymized usage
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Vercel Postgres with encrypted connections. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:
- With your consent (e.g., when you make your profile public for social features)
- With service providers who help us operate the app (hosting, email delivery, analytics) under strict data processing agreements
- If required by law or to protect our legal rights
Your Rights
Export your data: You can export all your data at any time from Settings in the app.
Delete your account: You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings or by submitting a request on our Support page.
Opt out of analytics: You can disable analytics tracking in your browser settings or by using an ad blocker.
Push Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we use Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) to send you habit reminders. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the app.
Children's Privacy
Grove is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Grove after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
